Real Madrid head coach Carlo Ancelotti has provided an insight into the reasoning behind his anger, late in the club’s defeat at the hands of Barcelona.
Real, of course, are fresh off a night to forget on Saturday.
After welcoming arch rivals Barcelona to the Spanish capital for a La Liga clash, Los Blancos were condemned to the wrong side of a head-turning 4-0 result.
Late in proceedings at the Santiago Bernabéu, meanwhile, things came close to boiling over on the touchline.
The cameras in attendance at the clash captured a fiery back-and-forth between the two benches, with the usually mild-mannered Carlo Ancelotti in the very thick of things.
Speaking to the media on the back of the full-time whistle on Saturday, it therefore came as little surprise when the subject of exactly what sparked his frustrations was put to Ancelotti himself.
And Real Madrid’s headmaster went on to explain:
“What happened with Barça’s bench? One of Hansi Flick’s assistants was not a ‘gentleman’ in his celebrations.”
