Carlo Ancelotti confirms Real Madrid’s plans for the January transfer window

Real Madrid head coach Carlo Ancelotti has on Friday provided an insight into the club’s plans for the upcoming winter transfer window.

And the news will no doubt be met with disappointment on the part of the Real faithful.

This comes amid confirmation that, as things stand, the Blancos brass do not intend to dip into the market for reinforcements.

The subject of potential additions to Ancelotti’s ranks has of course taken its place front and centre in the media headlines in Spain over the course of the last couple of weeks.

This comes after the long-term injury suffered by Dani Carvajal was followed by reports that David Alaba will not return to the pitch for some time yet.

Florentino Pérez and co, as a result, have been tipped to open the chequebook mid-season, to secure what would represent welcome defensive reinforcements for the La Liga champions.

If the latest comments on the part of Carlo Ancelotti are anything to go by, however, then as much looks highly unlikely.

Speaking to the media in his pre-Celta Vigo press conference on Friday, Real’s headmaster was drawn on the club’s plan for the January window.

And Ancelotti went on to explain:

“I have not asked for reinforcements. January market? Signing a player who will be good for Real Madrid is not easy. At the moment we are not thinking about signings.”
