Carlo Ancelotti talked briefly about Marco Asensio’s situation at Real Madrid.
The Italian was at the UEFA gala last night, where he won the Coach of the Year award for his achievements with Los Blancos last season.
In an interview which he gave to Movistar+ and also appeared on El Español, he discussed Asensio’s future at the club:
“I don’t know what will happen. He is looking to see whether he can leave. If he doesn’t leave, from the 1st of September he will be a Real Madrid player for 100%.”
The news means a sudden turn in events, as yesterday it was believed that while the Spaniard is fully aware that he will not get the minutes he wants, he is ready to fight for his place in the starting XI and see out his contract with Real Madrid, which is set to expire next summer.
It is believed that Manchester United are preparing to make an offer to sign Asensio before the transfer window closes.
