Çağlar Söyüncü is close to arriving at an agreement with Atlético Madrid to play at the Estadio Metropolitano next season, report Marca.
Earlier this month it was communicated that Atlético Madrid are eyeing Söyüncü and it appears as though a potential move is closer than initially thought.
The 26-year-old’s contract with Leicester City is expiring in June 2023 and the player has not showed any intention of extending his deal at the King Power Stadium.
From January onwards Söyüncü is free to sign pre-contractual agreements with other clubs and it is believed that Los Colchoneros are close to securing the Turkish international’s services for the 2023-24 season.
He would provide much needed competition for Stefan Savić and José María Giménez in defence, Atlético Madrid’s first-choice centre-backs at the moment.
His arrival would most likely mean the departure of Felipe and Mario Hermoso in either the winter or summer transfer window.
