Cádiz-Barcelona resumes after fan receives medical assistance

Cádiz-Barcelona stopped on Saturday night after a fan at the game required medical attention.

After waiting on the pitch for around 15 minutes, the teams were sent to the dressing rooms.

The fan was taken to hospital and the sides were called back out to resume the game in Cádiz.

Barcelona led 2-0 when play was stopped and the game resumed just after 9 pm, with Ansu Fati and Ousmane Dembélé scoring Barca’s third and fourth goals of the night.

The Blaugrana go top of the table with the victory, while Cádiz stay bottom.

Barca boss Xavi spoke to Movistar about the emergency in the stands at the Estadio Nuevo Mirandilla post-match.

“It was a very unpleasant situation. Health and life are more important than anything else. Fortunately, they were able to revive the person. We thought it was better for both sides to restart the match and we hope for his speedy recovery,” he said.
