Borussia Dortmund target Valencia’s Ferran Torres as possible Sancho replacement

Borussia Dortmund have made contact with Valencia and lead the race to sign their 20-year-old midfielder Ferran Torres, according to Spox and Goal.

Dortmund could bring in Torres as a replacement for Jadon Sancho, who has been continually linked with a move back to England, with Manchester United and Chelsea reportedly keen to sign him in the next transfer window.

Valencia haven’t been able to extend their prized asset’s contract. Los Che have attempted to reach an agreement with the player for the last eight months but, with things not having progressed as they would have liked, they are beginning to reach a point where it is all or nothing. The release clause is €100m, which was inserted into his last deal signed back in 2018.

Torres is entering the final 12 months of his contract, which expires on June 30, 2021.

Die Schwarzgelben are currently understood to be front-runners in the race for the player who joined Valencia aged six and are expected to face stiff competition from other European clubs. Real Madrid, Barcelona and Bayern Munich are among some of the names to have shown an interest, according to reports.

The Spain U21 international has played on 35 occasions in the 2019-20 campaign, scoring six times and providing seven assists.
