Ben Brereton Díaz signs for Villarreal

Villarreal have signed Blackburn Rovers striker Ben Brereton Díaz ahead of next season, report Relevo.

The Chile international finishes his contract with Blackburn in June and will join the La Liga club as a free agent.

Relevo reported at Christmas that the agreement was complete and all that was missing was the player’s signature. A few months later, the same outlet have confirmed that Brereton Díaz has signed a deal with the Castellón club.

The striker has committed himself for four seasons with a salary that will place him among the top earners in the squad. He finalised all the details with the club in January and in the last few weeks has signed the contract.

In January, the 23-year-old underwent his medical at Villarreal’s facilities and in the last few days, he has been looking for a place to live in the town of Castellón, although he hasn’t ruled out a move to Benicàssim or Valencia.

He has scored 12 goals and registered four assists for Rovers in the Championship this season.
