Ben Brereton Díaz agrees to join Villarreal

Blackburn Rovers and Chile forward Ben Brereton Díaz has agreed to join Villarreal this summer, according to Fabrizio Romano.

The most feasible option with Brereton Díaz was to wait for the player to finish his contract, something that will happen at the end of the season and he will join the La Liga side on a free transfer.

The 23-year-old came through the Manchester United academy, before playing for Nottingham Forest and then Blackburn in the Championship. Last season he scored 22 goals in 39 games.

After playing for England’s youth teams, he decided to make the jump to the senior team with Chile, where he has already made 17 appearances and scored four goals.

Villarreal are already working to strengthen their squad for next season, focusing on players who are coming to the end of their contracts.

They have an agreement in place with Spanish midfielder Denis Suárez, who will join the Yellow Submarine this summer.
