Ben Brereton Díaz becomes Villarreal’s top target

Villarreal are already working to strengthen their squad for next season, focusing on players who are coming to the end of their contracts.

They have an agreement in place with Spanish midfielder Denis Suárez, who will join the Yellow Submarine this summer. And their next target is Blackburn striker Ben Brereton Díaz, report AS.

The 23-year-old is the first option on the table for Villarreal as the player they are looking to bolster their attack. As reported in the Lancashire Telegraph, of all the options being considered for the player, Villarreal’s is the most solid.

The striker wanted could arrive in Spain as early as June, although the possible departures of fellow forwards Arnaut Danjuma and Nicolas Jackson could change that.

The option that appears to be most feasible is to wait for the player to finish his contract, something that will happen at the end of the season.

Brereton Díaz came through the Manchester United academy, before playing for Nottingham Forest and then Blackburn Rovers in the Championship, where he has made 196 appearances and scored 48 goals. Last season he scored 22 goals in 39 games.

After playing for England’s youth teams, he decided to make the jump to the senior team with Chile, where he has already made 17 appearances and scored four goals.
