‘Beautiful’ – Mallorca star Muriqi reveals Real Madrid guard of honour dream

RCD Mallorca star Vedat Muriqi has today opened up on his dream of being afforded a guard of honour by one of Spanish football’s biggest clubs.

As much, of course, comes ahead of the biggest fixture of not only Mallorca’s season, but in the club’s recent history.

Amid a surprise cup run featuring victories over the likes of Girona and Real Sociedad, next Saturday night, Javier Aguirre’s troops will take their place in the finale of the Copa del Rey.

A showdown with Athletic Club lies in wait, at the Estadio La Cartuja in Seville.

The Bermellones will head into proceedings as underdogs once more, in their pursuit of what would come as just a 2nd Copa triumph in the club’s history.

And, as alluded to above, one member of the Mallorca ranks who has this week been unable to stop himself from envisioning precisely that, comes in the form of Vedat Muriqi.

Speaking in an interview with Onda Cero late on Tuesday night, frontman Muriqi looked beyond Saturday’s showpiece, to the ensuing weekend, when his side will lock horns with the might of Real Madrid.

Thinking back to his recent past as a waiter, the Kosovo international highlighted the ‘beauty’ that would come from being afforded a potential guard of honour by Carlo Ancelotti’s star-studded Real squad at Son Moix:

“Could you imagine a team like Real Madrid giving us a Guard of Honor for winning the Copa? Giving a guard of honor to Muriqi, who was just a waiter a few years ago? It would be beautiful honestly.”
