Bayern Munich prepared to break transfer record to land Barcelona’s Ronald Araújo

An update on the transfer saga linking Barcelona defender Ronald Araújo with a move to German heavyweights Bayern Munich has been provided this evening.

And the news will no doubt prove to be concerning for those of a Barcelona persuasion.

It is of course common knowledge that Bayern have played Araújo atop the club’s transfer wishlist for the summer transfer window.

Thomas Tuchel is understood to be a keen admirer of the Uruguayan’s talents, desperate to add him to the defensive ranks under his watch at the Allianz Arena.

Barca, for their part, have no interest in allowing such a key member of Xavi’s squad to move on, amid ongoing attempts to tie Araújo down to fresh terms.

But, if the latest media speculation is anything to go by, it would appear that Bayern are ready to do whatever it takes to twist the arm of the Catalans.

As per a report from Diario Sport, citing Sky Germany, Christoph Freund, sporting director in Bavaria, recently held a telephone conversation with Araújo himself.

During this discussion, Fruend laid out his transfer plan, in an attempt to convince the stopper of the perks of leaving Barcelona in the rearview.

Not only that, but he went as far as to inform Araújo that, should he give the okay to the transfer, Bayern Munich are willing to break their considerable transfer record – paid to Tottenham for Harry Kane – on his signature.
