Bayern Munich maintain their stance on Real Madrid target Alphonso Davies

An update on the future of Bayern Munich player Alphonso Davies, who is a priority target for Real Madrid this summer, has been provided today.

As reported by Fabrizio Romano, Bayern maintain their stance on Davies and believe they can convince the defender to commit to the club on fresh terms. However, they would ideally want the full-back to put pen to paper on a new deal before June, otherwise they would be forced to make him available on the market.

The Bundesliga holders have no intention of letting the Canadian leave the club on a free transfer and this could happen in 2026 if the player fails to sign a new contract or leave the club this summer. Madrid are long-term admirers of the 23-year-old with Carlo Ancelotti identifying the player as the perfect left-back for his project.

Los Blancos want to sign Davies desperately, but have no intention to pay €60m that Bayern are demanding for their star man. The sporting department at the Spanish giants believe that they can secure the player’s signature for a discounted price, due to his contract situation, which gives them more power in the negotiations.

In order for a deal to be agreed this summer, Bayern would have to drop their demands by around €20m and this is the main reason why the clubs have reached an impasse in negotiations. Personal terms between the La Liga leaders and Davies are not expected to be an issue, with the player already having a verbal agreement over certain terms with the club.
