Barcelona’s Robert Lewandowski names his preferred Champions League quarter-final opponent

Barcelona star Robert Lewandowski has this evening provided an insight into which of the remaining teams in the Champions League he would most like to face off with in the competition’s next round.

Barca, and Lewandowski, are of course fresh off booking their spot in the quarter-finals of European football’s elite club competition.

As much comes after Xavi’s troops battled their way to a 1-1 first leg stalemate in Italy, before putting reigning Serie A champions Napoli to the sword this past Tuesday night.

Lewandowski, for his part, managed to find the target in both legs, putting the finishing touches on a 3-1 victory late on in Catalunya.

Speaking in an interview with Polish journalist Tomasz Włodarczyk on Thursday, the subject of the challenge awaiting his side in the Champions League’s last eight was in turn put to Barca’s prolific hitman.

Specifically, Lewandowski was asked if he has a preference when it comes to the Blaugrana’s quarter-final opponents.

And the 35-year-old went on to point towards Borussia Dortmund as a tie which would mark a fascinating one, for ‘sentimental’ reasons on his own part:

“At this point all the rivals are strong. It’s difficult to say who I would like but maybe Dortmund? Wouldn’t it be sentimental to return there as a Barcelona player?”
