La Liga giants Barcelona look increasingly likely to miss out on one of the premiere free agents of the 2025 summer transfer window.
That’s according to Fabrizio Romano, who points towards Jonathan David as the player in question.
The name of frontman David has of course long proven a prominent one in the headlines in Catalunya’s capital.
This comes amid widespread claims that the Barcelona brass are considering a move to bring the Canadian international in for free for next season.
David has made clear on several occasions now that his dream is to wear the colours of the Blaugrana, a clear come-and-get-me plea to Deco and co.
As alluded to above, however, if the latest update on the situation to have surfaced on Thursday is anything to go by, then any such move actually coming to fruition is beginning to look less and less likely.
The understanding is that David will indeed be on the move next summer, the goalscorer having no plans to renew his expiring terms with Lille.
Barcelona, however, have opted against opening negotiations for his incorporation.
This comes chiefly owing to the presence of Robert Lewandowski, whose contract will imminently be renewed for an extra season, through to 2026.
Italy and England are therefore labelled as the most likely landing spots for David as things stand.
