Barcelona’s return to the Spotify Camp Nou pushed back further

The expected return of La Liga giants Barcelona to the Spotify Camp Nou has been pushed back all the way to March.

That’s according to ESPN, who have on Friday provided an update on the situation.

Renovations, of course, have long been underway at Barcelona’s beloved home ground.

Amid efforts to bring the Camp Nou in line with some of football’s most modern stadiums, the Blaugrana brass green-lighted a major makeover, which will see everything from stands, facilities and fan experience upgraded.

The hope had long been that the venue would be opened to fans towards the end of this year, albeit at a reduced capacity of around 60%.

As alluded to above, however, if the latest word stemming from the media is anything to go by, then this will not be the case.

Not only that, but after more recent reports had pointed towards February as a more realistic target, ESPN have revealed:

‘Hansi Flick’s Barcelona will not play at the Camp Nou until March 2025, with their return expected to take place on the first weekend and with Real Sociedad as their opponent.’
