Barcelona’s Lamine Yamal speaks out on chances of winning Ballon d’Or

Barcelona sensation Lamine Yamal has on Thursday spoken out on his chances of winning the next Ballon d’Or.

Wide-man Lamine, of course, saw his long-term excellence at club and international level alike recognised last week.

As much came by way of a place on the 30-man shortlist for the next ‘Golden Ball’.

The Spaniard is not considered as bring amongst the frontrunners for the prize, but his nomination, in and of itself, at just 17 years of age, is a testament to just how highly thought of Lamine is across the world of football.

Speaking during an interview with El Hormiguero, as cited by Mundo Deportivo, on Thursday, it therefore came as little surprise when his Ballon d’Or chances for 2024 were put to the player himself.

Lamine, however, was eager to play as much down, adamant that he has ‘no chance’ of lifting the accolade later this year:

“We were in the elevator with Nico, Nico (Williams’ nomination) came out first, but I have no chance of winning the Ballon d’Or. I imagine that the people from Madrid appreciate me because of the national team.”
