Barcelona’s Lamine Yamal makes Champions League history vs Napoli

Barcelona starlet Lamine Yamal has this evening etched his name indellibly into the history books of European football.

Barca, and Yamal, are of course currently locked in action.

In their return to action on the continent, the Blaugrana have made the trip to Italy, for the first leg of the club’s Champions League Last-16 showdown with Serie A champions Napoli.

As things stand early in proceedings at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona, the two sides remain deadlocked, at 0-0.

It is the visitors, though, who have enjoyed much the better of things, having already directed a number of noteworthy efforts at Alex Meret’s goal.

Two such shots have come by way of Lamine Yamal, who has continued to look like Barcelona’s main attacking threat from his berth on the right flank.

As much, of course, comes despite the Spanish international being just 16 years of age.

In fact, so young is Yamal, that, in taking to the pitch against Napoli, the gifted winger tonight established himself as the youngest player to ever feature in a knockout round game in the Champions League.
