Barcelona starlet Lamine Yamal has provided an insight into the role played by Lionel Messi in his decision to put pen to paper on terms with sporting giants adidas.
The name of youngster Lamine has found its way to the forefront of the headlines in Spain once more across the day to date.
This comes after confirmation was forthcoming that the gifted winger has signed his first official deal to partner with the aforementioned adidas.
After his explosion onto the scene in Barcelona over the course of the last 12 months, a number of the world’s leading sports manufacturers are understood to have set their sights firmly on Lamine’s signature, until now contracted to Nike.
As much comes despite the Blaugrana academy product, remarkably, still being just 16 years of age.
In the end, though, it was adidas who won out, confirming that they have closed an agreement with Lamine, over the terms of a ‘long-term’ partnership moving forward:
‘adidas is proud to confirm Lamine Yamal joining the adidas family as of today, wearing the X Crazyfast; perfectly suited to his agile and explosive style of play on the wing.’
Speaking on the back of his official unveiling as adidas’ latest athlete, Lamine was drawn on the key factors in his decision to link up with the German manufacturer.
And the Spanish international went on to confirm that Barcelona legend Lionel Messi proved one such influence, with his ‘idol’ having sported adidas footwear across the bulk of his legendary career:
“I am proud to join adidas as they have always been the brand of the best. Growing up, I idolized Leo Messi who has been with adidas since I first started watching football. I look forward to the many years ahead with adidas.”
