Barcelona’s first summer signing ‘only a matter of time’

La Liga giants Barcelona closing a deal for the club’s first signing of the summer is all but imminent.

That’s according to Mundo Deportivo, who point towards Nico Williams as the player all set to take his talents to Catalunya’s capital.

Wide-man Nico is widely reported to have been identified as the chief summer transfer target at Barcelona.

As much comes with the Spanish international considered the ideal profile to round out a frontline also boasting the talents of Lamine Yamal, and Robert Lewandowski.

In the knowledge that Nico himself is more than eager to link up with Hansi Flick’s squad, it is therefore simply a matter of the Blaugrana piecing together the funds to activate his €58 million Athletic Club release clause.

And, as per the aforementioned MD, as much coming to fruition can now be considered a case of when, rather than if:

‘The Catalan club have the numbers to undertake the operation and now it is only a matter of time, especially knowing that the player is very positive about the possibility of joining Barça.’

The plan drawn up by Deco and co. therefore involves waiting for the conclusion of Euro 2024 this Sunday, before springing into action to make Nico’s arrival a reality.
