Fans of La Liga giants Barcelona are likely to be left disappointed by the latest word regarding the club’s plans between the posts.
This comes amid confirmation on the part of Deco that Barca do not intend to seek out a new goalkeeper with a view to next season.
The subject of potential shot-stopper reinforcements has of course proven a central talking point in the media in Catalunya’s capital over the last couple of months.
This comes after it was widely suggested that the Blaugrana intended to make use of Marc-André ter Stegen’s long-term injury to dip into the market for a new no.1 for the 2025/26 campaign.
A whole host of leading ‘keepers from across the continent have, in turn, been tipped as potential additions to Hansi Flick’s squad, music to the ears of the large sections of Barcelona supporters who have long been calling for Ter Stegen to be replaced.
Safe to say, then, that such fans will be less than amused with the latest update provided by the aforementioned Deco.
Asked during an interview with Mundo Deportivo if the Camp Nou brass plan to seek out a replacement for their sidelined no.1 for next season, Barca sporting director Deco assured:
”No. Marc still has three years left on his contract, he is young for a goalkeeper, 32 years old, and we must focus on him recovering well and coming back in good shape. That is why having two goalkeepers who give us guarantees is important, so we are not in a hurry for him to come back. We are analysing it little by little, I don’t think it is something we need to consider now.”
