New Barcelona signing Wojciech Szczęsny has on Thursday provided his take on the never-ending debate surrounding the game’s greatest-ever player.
Szczęsny, for his part, is of course fresh off committing to terms with Barcelona last week.
After stepping out of retirement to aid the Blaugrana on the back of the long-term injury suffered by Marc-André ter Stegen, the Pole has since gone on to link up with Hansi Flick’s squad in Catalunya’s capital.
With the October international break now in full swing, though, Szczęsny has this week been afforded some extra time to fulfill his media obligations.
And it was during one such interview on Thursday, that the aforementioned GOAT debate was put to the shot-stopper.
Speaking to Mundo Deportivo, Szczęsny was asked who he feels is the greatest player to ever grace the pitch.
And his answer will no doubt go down a treat with supporters of his new club, Szczęsny having shown little hesitation in responding:
”Leo Messi”
The new Barcelona signing went on to add:
”There are probably players who scored more goals against me because I think he only scored three. I know he scored three because he was sending the beers and he sent me only three beers. He is the only one I was really afraid to play against.”
