Barcelona youngster training with first-team with a view to squad place for Monaco clash

A highly-regarded up-and-coming member of the academy setup at La Liga giants Barcelona has been spotted training alongside the club’s first-team stars on Wednesday.

The player in question? Toni Fernández.

The name of youngster Fernández has taken its place front and centre in the headlines in Catalunya’s capital over the course of the last week.

This comes after the attacker, at just 16 years, one month and 23 days old, established himself as the youngest goalscorer in the history of Barcelona’s reserve team.

Then, mere days later, Toni was back on the scoresheet for Barca Atlètic once more, directing home a fine volley early on against Unionistas.

And, safe to say, such exploits have evidently not gone unnoticed higher up the chain at Barcelona…

As per a report from Diario Sport, in Barcelona’s first-team morning session on Wednesday, Toni found himself front and centre in proceedings.

Not only that, but it is suggested that as much comes with a view to the teenage sensation taking his place in Hansi Flick’s matchday squad for the Blaugrana’s Champions League season opener against AS Monaco on Thursday.
