Barcelona youngster on the verge of Serie A switch

La Liga giants Barcelona are ready to sanction the immediate departure of a highly-regarded up-and-coming member of the club’s attacking ranks. This comes amid the understanding that Toni Fernández is on the verge of a move to Italy, with Venezia.

Toni, for his part, is an 18-year-old Spanish youth international, who has long been tipped for a bright future at the top level of the game.

Despite his tender years, the versatile attacker – who can fill a variety of positions in the final third – has long been a regular for Barca Atlètic, the Blaugrana’s reserve team. Not only that, but he has been called up for senior duty on a whole host of occasions in the past, culminating in a solitary La Liga appearance under the watch of Hansi Flick.

As alluded to above, though, aware of the tough task awaiting him in carving out a consistent place in Barca’s frontline at senior level, Toni has seemingly made the call to move on.

As per a report from Diario Sport:

‘Toni Fernández is one step away from Venezia. The winger has rejected several interesting proposals and is very close to betting on the Italian team’s project. The parties could close the deal today.’

The transfer is expected to come in the form of a permanent one, featuring a buyback option in favour of Barcelona.
