The brass at La Liga champions Barcelona have kickstarted efforts to tie a pair of the club’s most highly-regarded young talents down for the long-term.
The Blaugrana pair in question? Hamza Abdelkarim, and Xavi Espart.
Both striker Abdelkarim and defender Espart have of course taken their place front and centre in the headlines surrounding Barcelona at different points over the last month.
In the case of the former, his stellar work in front of goal, at just 18 years of age, turned heads throughout Barca’s pre-season fixture list.
Versatile full-back Espart, meanwhile, has already earned the full trust of Hansi Flick and his staff at 19, afforded a starting berth at left-back in each of the Catalans’ first two outings of the new season.
And as alluded to above, such exploits have evidently not gone unappreciated behind the scenes at the Spotify Camp Nou… As per a report from Barcelona insider Achraf Ben Ayad:
‘Barcelona are working hard on renewing Hamza and Espart’s contracts.’
