In modern football there are plenty of sources of income for players. Outside of wages, players can avail of sponsorship deals and brand collaborations as another form of income.
Lamine Yamal has done exactly that. The 17-year-old sensation has agreed an ambassador deal with Konami, to become the face of their football video game title eFootball.
As a result, Yamal is currently present in plenty of the game’s branding, specifically on their website, but likely everywhere else too going forward.
Yamal is also likely to play a key part in the game moving forward, and is another addition given Barcelona’s existing deal with Konami, which sees their stadium being exclusive to the game.
eFootball has been in a bit of a rut in recent years, unable to emulate their previous success under the Pro Evolution Soccer branding, and falling way short of EA’s market dominance.
Konami will be hoping that this deal with a prodigy like Lamine Yamal can help get their fortunes in the right direction.
