Barcelona without Marc-André ter Stegen against Rayo Vallecano

Much has been made of the Gavi injury over the last few days but now Barcelona have to deal with the latest setback which is that they will also be without Marc-André ter Stegen for the trip to Rayo Vallecano this weekend.

Ter Stegen is suffering from lower back pain, as reported by Relevo, and will not be fit enough for Saturday’s game. He is however expected back for the Champions League game against Porto on Tuesday.

Barça go into tomorrow’s game on a bit of a sour note, with two losses in the last four games, including an El Clásico defeat meaning that confidence is not as high as it was going into the game against Real Madrid.

The Catalan club are currently third in the league and are four points behind Girona. They know that they cannot afford a slip-up and Rayo are a team that they have been slipping up against in recent years.

Barça have not beaten tomorrow’s opposition since January 2021. They cannot afford to drop more points.
