Barcelona will try to sign Bernardo Silva from Manchester City

Barcelona want to try and secure the services of Manchester City midfielder Bernardo Silva (28), report Mundo Deportivo.

Xavi Hernández continues to insist on strengthening his midfield with a creator and a defensive midfielder, and Silva is his number one priority, according to MD.

Oriol Romeu is close to joining the club from Girona to replace the gap left by Sergio Busquets in defensive midfield.

The Catalan club do, however, know how difficult it will be to sign Silva, but they believe they can make the move a reality.

Joan Laporta spoke to MD yesterday, saying: “Xavi says that we will go for the Champions League and that it will be necessary to strengthen with two excellent players”.

The club president did not want to reveal in the aforementioned interview who those players were, but MD understands that Xavi’s main target is Bernardo Silva.

Whether the La Liga champions can sign the Portugal international or not this summer remains to be seen.
