Barcelona were offered chance to sign another Newcastle star this summer

The board at La Liga giants Barcelona were recently offered up the services of a 2nd member of the attacking ranks at Premier League outfit Newcastle United.

This comes amid the understanding that, amid the mounting speculation surrounding his future in England, Nick Woltemade’s entourage reached out to the transfer team at the Spotify Camp Nou.

Barcelona are of course fresh off adding to their options at centre-forward on deadline day, courtesy of the signing of Gabriel Jesus of Arsenal.

As per a report from Mundo Deportivo, though:

‘The German striker was offered to Barça when his future at the English club was uncertain, although the deal never progressed.’

Deco and co. had of course already brought one attacker to Catalunya’s capital from Newcastle this summer, in the form of Anthony Gordon. Woltemade’s profile, though, was not considered the right fit for Hansi Flick’s system, with a deal for Jesus having already been close to completion, too.

The German international, in turn, went on to join Serie A heavyweights Juventus on loan through the summer of 2027.
