The brass at La Liga giants Barcelona are eyeing an audacious swoop for a member of the attacking ranks at La Liga rivals Atlético Madrid in 12 months’ time.
That’s according to El Chiringuito TV, who point towards Julián Alvarez as the player in question.
Barcelona, it is widely understood, have begun scouring the market for future reinforcements at centre-forward.
With Robert Lewandowski entering the twilight years of his legendary career, and Ferran Torres not yet trusted to act as a first-choice striker, a shortlist of options has in turn been drawn up.
And chief amongst those earmarked by Deco and his team as potential targets, it is understood, is the aforementioned Julián Alvarez.
World Cup winner Alvarez is of course in the midst of a stellar debut campaign on the books of Diego Simeone’s Atlético Madrid, which has seen the Argentine notch 29 goals and six assists across all competitions.
And as much, evidently, has not gone unnoticed over at the Camp Nou…
As per a report from El Chiringuito TV, in fact:
‘Barca want Julián Alvarez in 2026.’
It remains to be seen, however, whether the Atléti board would even be willing to come to the table to negotiate such a potentially groundbreaking transfer with a direct rival.
