Barcelona want to extend Ousmane Dembélé’s stay due to reduced release clause

Ousmane Dembélé and his agent Moussa Sissokho have held fresh talks with the directors of Barcelona over a contract extension. The 26-year-old’s current deal is set to expire on the 30 June 2024, but Barça are willing to keep the French winger until 2027.

While Dembélé continues to have his injury problems, he does deliver when he is healthy. In the 2022-23 campaign, the France international missed 17 games in all competitions due to a hamstring injury. On the other hand, he bagged five goals and notched seven assists in 25 La Liga appearances.

The Blaugrana club are hoping to act quickly due to Dembélé’s release clause reducing to €50m in June and July, and it will rebound to €100m after 31 July, per MD. If a team was willing to pay for the player’s clause, Barça would only be left with €25m, while the other half would go to Dembélé’s agent.
