Barcelona want to extend Ousmane Dembélé’s contract

Barcelona want to renew Ousmane Dembélé’s current deal at the club, which expires on 30 June 2022, according to Goal.

As Goal can confirm, the position with Dembélé is a no-brainer. If he does not want to extend his contract, he will be put on the transfer list. If a buyer is not found, he could even lose his place in the squad, as has happened in recent months with Eric Garcia and Manchester City. The centre-back did not want to renew and Pep Guardiola stopped counting on him, knowing that the Catalan wanted to return to Barça.

The club’s sporting directors are working to plan the squad for next season, but they are not going to give in on Dembélé, whose agent is pursuing a strategy of letting time pass without replying to the club’s extension proposal. If Dembélé continues to exhaust the club’s patience, the Barça offices are clear about their move: if he does not renew after the European Championship, they will listen to offers and he could leave this summer.

As of today, the club do not have any interesting offers on the table for Dembélé, so the decision on the Frenchman’s future will have to wait.
