La Liga giants Barcelona have this week been dealt a setback on the transfer front.
This comes amid confirmation that LOSC Lille star Tiago Santos has put pen to paper on fresh terms with the Ligue 1 club.
Santos, for his part, recently saw his name position itself front and centre in the headlines in Spain, amid the understanding that the right-back has made his way onto the radar of the transfer team at the aforementioned Barcelona.
Amid an ongoing search for reinforcements at full-back, Santos was earmarked by fellow countryman Deco as a leading option to link up with Hansi Flick’s squad.
If the latest word stemming from France is anything to go by, however, then it would appear that, for the time being at least, the 22-year-old is fully committed to the cause at Lille.
This comes amid confirmation that Santos has signed a new contract with Les Dogues.
As per a statement across the club’s website and social media platforms:
‘LOSC announced today the extension of Tiago Santos’ contract. The Portuguese international defender is now tied to LOSC until 2029.
‘By extending their contract today, Tiago Santos and LOSC demonstrate their mutual trust and ambition.’
