Barcelona tipped to launch surprise move for Getafe star

The powers that be at Barcelona are keeping a close eye on a leading member of the attacking ranks at La Liga rivals Getafe, ahead of the summer.

That’s according to Diario AS, who point towards Borja Mayoral as the player in question.

Frontman Mayoral, for his part, is fresh off an impressive campaign on the books of the aforementioned Getafe, which saw him rack up 17 goals in 31 appearances across all competitions.

Such production did not go at all unnoticed at the aforementioned Barcelona, understood to be giving consideration to a bid for the former Real Madrid man with a view to next season.

As much, however, is likely to be dependent on the future of Vitor Roque.

Brazilian international Roque is expected to be afforded the chance to impress by new Blaugrana head coach Hansi Flick over the months ahead.

Should he fail to do so, however, Deco and co. could well sanction an exit, either on loan, or a permanent basis.

And, in the case of as much, Barcelona would quickly turn their attentions towards Mayoral, as an experienced and La Liga-proven replacement.
