La Liga giants Barcelona’s upcoming European opponents, Stade Brestois, were on Friday evening dealt a concerning blow on the personnel front.
As much came after star midfielder Pierre Lees-Melou was forced into a premature departure from the club’s post-international break return.
Brest were back in action a short time ago, slipping to a hard-fought Ligue 1 defeat at the hands of AS Monaco.
And, en route to as much, Éric Roy’s troops were also dealt a heavy personnel setback.
Inside the opening 25 minutes of action at the Stade Louis II, the aforementioned Lees-Melou went to ground, in evident discomfort.
After attempting to run off what appeared to be a calf strain of some sort, the 31-year-old soon succumbed to the issue, limping from the field of play.
Spotted making use of crutches after reappearing on the sideline, Lees-Melou can in turn be considered a major doubt to feature in Brest’s Champions League showdown against Barcelona next Tuesday.
