Barcelona stars flood to social media to show support for Ronald Araújo

A host of high-profile members of the first-team setup at La Liga giants Barcelona have on Wednesday moved to show their support for teammate Ronald Araújo.

As much, of course, comes amid what has proven an altogether difficult 24 hours for the defender.

After being afforded a starting berth in Barcelona’s Champions League quarter-final 2nd-leg meeting with Paris Saint-Germain, a mistake on Araújo’s part cost his side dear.

Owing to a last-man challenge on PSG’s Bradley Barcola, the Uruguayan was given his marching orders inside the opening half-hour of proceedings.

And this proved the turning point in not only the fixture, but the tie as a whole, Luis Enrique’s visitors going on to rack up four goals without reply to send Barca packing from Europe for the season.

In the aftermath of the clash, Araújo, in turn, has been singled out for heavy criticism, on the part of fans, pundits, and the media alike.

Understandably crestfallen, the 25-year-old’s teammates, as a result, have on Wednesday moved to provide their public backing to Araújo.

Taking to the comments section of the stopper’s heartfelt apology to all associated with Barcelona on Instagram, the likes of Lamine Yamal, Ferran Torres, and João Cancelo have assured Araújo that they are firmly behind him.
