The agent of Barcelona star Dominik Livaković has provided an insight into the limited game time likely to come the way of his client in Catalunya’s capital this season.
This of course comes with the Croatian forced to battle it out with one of world football’s very best for minutes in Barca’s goal…
Shot-stopper Livaković for his part put pen to paper on terms at the Spotify Camp Nou over the summer. Ahead of the expiration of his contract terms with Fenerbahçe in 2027, the 31-year-old was snapped up on a cut-price deal.
Livaković was initially expected to be farmed out on loan for the duration of the current campaign, but ultimately stayed put in Hansi Flick’s squad.
He was then afforded a first start in Blaugrana colours prior to the international break, favoured over Wojciech Szczęsny after Joan García suffered a fitness setback.
And it is the ongoing presence of the latter which, in the eyes of Livaković’s representative, is likely to keep his client glued to the bench for the majority of 2026/27.
Speaking during an appearance on the ‘Inkubator’ podcast (as cited by Diario Sport), Andy Bara admitted:
“He could play between five and seven games because it is very difficult (to overtake Joan).”
Bara continued:
“Livakovic signed for Barça to prepare for this year and fight for the starting spot next season and thus compete for the number 1 jersey with Joan García.”
