Barcelona starlet tipped to replace Ballon d’Or winner Rodri for Spain

Spanish national team head coach Luis de la Fuente has hinted at a potentially prominent role for Barcelona youngster Marc Casadó in his latest squad.

The name of midfielder Casadó has of course taken its place front and centre in the headlines in his home country of Spain across the day to date.

This comes after the 21-year-old’s ongoing excellence at club level with Barcelona was rewarded by way of a first-ever senior call-up at international level.

And, as alluded to above, if the ensuing comments of Luis de la Fuente are anything to go by, then an altogether important role is already being considered for Casadó.

Speaking during his latest press conference on Friday afternoon, Spain’s headmaster was drawn on his plans to replace long-term injury absentee Rodri moving forward.

And, in his response, De la Fuente went on to name Barcelona’s engine room gem as one of two leading candidates:

“Rodri’s absence is a big loss for us, but we have Casadó and Zubimendi.”
