Barcelona star Frenkie de Jong is set to link up with the rest of the club’s squad in first-team training this Thursday.
That’s according to Barca insider Javier Miguel of Diario AS, who has on Tuesday provided an insight into the situation.
Midfielder De Jong set alarm bells ringing amongst those of a Blaugrana persuasion early this week.
As much came after the 27-year-old, fresh off admitting that he was still struggling for full fitness, was afforded an early release from the Dutch national team camp for ‘medical reasons’.
De Jong, of course, only recently returned from a long-term spell on the sidelines with an ankle injury.
As alluded to above, though, if the latest word stemming from the media on Tuesday is anything to go by, then the Barcelona faithful need not fret.
This comes amid confirmation that De Jong’s early return to base in Catalunya’s capital did not come owing to any fresh fitness concern.
The former Ajax man is therefore expected to mark his return to training with the Blaugrana’s squad on Thursday, ahead of being at the disposal of boss Hansi Flick to face Celta Vigo at the weekend.
