Barcelona star sits out first training session of the week

Barcelona star Gavi played no part in the club’s first training session of the week on Tuesday.

This comes as the medical staff in Catalunya’s capital continue to exercise maximum caution with the midfield starlet.

Gavi, for his part, set alarm bells ringing amongst those of a Barcelona persuasion over the weekend.

This came after the 20-year-old was involved in a nasty clash of heads en route to the Blaugrana’s hard-fought 1-0 downing of Deportivo Alavés.

Inside the opening quarter of an hour, Gavi was therefore hooked from proceedings, before being taken to a local hospital for medical checks and scans.

As much, thankfully, confirmed that no serious damage had been done.

But all at Barcelona are nevertheless understandably keen to take absolutely no risks when it comes to the wellbeing of the club’s midfield prodigy.

In turn, as per a report from Diario Sport, Gavi was put through an individualised training session in the gym at The Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper on Tuesday.

His status for Barca’s upcoming Copa del Rey quarter-final meeting with Valencia remains unclear.
