Barcelona star Ronald Araújo will play no part in the club’s upcoming La Liga meeting with Real Betis.
That’s according to Diario Sport, who have on Thursday provided an insight into the latest developments behind the scenes in Catalunya’s capital.
The name of defender Araújo has of course proven a prominent one in the headlines at Barcelona over the last couple of weeks.
This comes after the Uruguayan – sidelined since the summer owing to a serious hamstring injury suffered whilst on international duty – was finally been given the all clear to return to group training.
Owing to his steady progress, murmurs had in turn begun to spread that Araújo could even mark his comeback this weekend, against the aforementioned Real Betis.
As alluded to above, though, if the latest word to have surfaced on Thursday regarding the matter is anything to go by, then this will not be the case.
As per a report from Sport, the 25-year-old has not yet been given the green light for competitive action.
Araújo could be included in Barcelona’s squad to face Borussia Dortmund next week, but purely to get back into the matchday routine, rather than with a view to playing.
His return to the pitch is then expected to be sanctioned on Sunday, December 15th, when the stopper has been pencilled in to feature in a La Liga meeting with Leganés at Montjuïc.
