Barcelona star Ronald Araújo speaks out over Bayern Munich links

Barcelona defender Ronald Araújo has this evening addressed the ongoing speculation linking him with a move to Germany, with Bayern Munich.

It is of course common knowledge across the continent that stopper Araújo has been identified as a leading target on the part of the transfer team at Bundesliga champions Bayern.

Amid a long-standing search for fresh blood at the back, Thomas Tuchel views the Uruguayan as the ideal profile for not only the present, but the foreseeable future, too.

In turn, it has been reported in the media that Bayern are giving consideration to a big-money proposal, to bring Araújo to the Allianz Arena this month.

Not only that, but a number of sources have pointed towards the player himself being very much open to the move.

If the latest comments on the part of the 24-year-old are anything to go by, however, then the Barcelona faithful need not fret.

Speaking to the press ahead of Barca’s Spanish Super Cup showdown with Osasuna on Thursday, Araújo was today drawn on suggestions that he could soon take his talents to Bayern.

And the no-nonsense stopper showcased little hesitation in point blank denying as much, adamant that his focus remains solely on matters in Catalunya’s capital:

“Every transfer window we have stories about me,” he began, as cited by Fabrizio Romano.

“They also said about Man United last summer. My focus is on Barcelona. I’m doing my best for Barça, 100%. It’s a privilege to wear the captain’s armband, I feel the responsibility.”
