Barcelona star reserves special mention for Xavi during title celebrations

A leading member of the attacking ranks at Barcelona made sure to reserve a special mention for former manager Xavi during the club’s title celebrations.

Barcelona, of course, are fresh off adding to the club’s silverware cabinet.

After making the trip across Catalunya for a meeting with city rivals Espanyol on Thursday night, the Blaugrana emerged on the right side of a 2-0 result.

As much put Hansi Flick’s troops out of sight atop the La Liga table, seven points clear of 2nd-placed Real Madrid with just two games to play.

Post-match at RCDE Stadium, passionate celebrations, in turn, were quickly kicked into gear amongst Barcelona’s players and coaching staff alike.

And as alluded to above, in the thick of these festivities, one member of the Catalan heavyweights’ squad made sure to shout out former boss Xavi.

Speaking to the media in the early hours of Friday, Lamine Yamal explained:

“I’d like to thank Xavi, without him this would not be possible. He gave us young players the opportunity to make our debuts. I would like to thank him.”
