Barcelona star receives standing ovation for latest dazzling international display

A headline member of the attacking ranks at La Liga giants Barcelona saw his latest endeavours on the international stage deservedly recognised on Saturday night.

The player in question? Lamine Yamal.

Wide-man Lamine, for his part, was afforded his latest starting berth for Spain, in the country’s final warm-up fixture ahead of the European Championships.

And, en route to an eventual 5-1 romp of Northern Ireland, the youngster, still just 16, shone bright once more.

Absolutely terrorising the visitors’ backline in Mallorca, Lamine lit up the right flank courtesy of a trademark blend of quick feet, trickery, and, crucially, end product.

Such endeavours gave rise to a pair of assists, first for Fabián Ruiz, and then Mikel Oyarzabal.

Just beyond the 70-minute mark, the Barcelona prodigy, in turn, was hooked from proceedings, with a wide smile etched across his face owing to another job well done.

And those in attendance at Son Moix were quick to make clear their appreciation for Spanish football’s latest sensation.

Rising to their feet as one, the home crowd engaged in a standing ovation, no doubt hopeful of more of the same on the part of Lamine at Euro 2024 over the month ahead.
