La Liga giants Barcelona have been left to sweat over the status of midfielder Frenkie de Jong, ahead of their upcoming meeting with Sevilla.
As much has been confirmed by a whole host of sources across the Spanish media on Saturday.
Barca, of course, are primed to return to action tomorrow evening, in a league meeting with the aforementioned Sevilla in Catalunya’s capital.
Speaking during his pre-match press conference, boss Hansi Flick, meanwhile, confirmed that he was giving consideration to affording De Jong his first start of the season in the matchup:
“I’ve been thinking of starting Frenkie tomorrow because he is ready, but we will see.”
In turn, it has come as a surprise, since, to hear of De Jong struggling for fitness…
As revealed by Barcelona insider Javier Miguel of Diario AS, the Dutch international picked up a minor muscular problem in training today.
The issue is in no way related to the ankle injury which recently kept De Jong sidelined for six months, but is significant enough to have thrown his participation against Sevilla into doubt.
