Barcelona star Marc-André ter Stegen is ready to give the green light to a departure from the club for the duration of the 2026/27 campaign.
This comes amid ongoing talks between the German’s entourage, and Dutch giants Ajax.
Ter Stegen of course finds himself as something of an odd man out in Hansi Flick’s Barcelona squad at present.
Sitting behind both Joan García and Wojciech Szczęsny in the goalkeeper pecking order, the 34-year-old is aware that game time would be at a premium in Catalunya’s capital next time out.
For this reason, Ter Stegen’s representatives have spent recent weeks searching for a new club for their client. The experienced shot-stopper spent the 2nd half of last season on loan at Girona, with another temporary transfer now being sought.
And as alluded to above, early this week, precisely as much appears to be inching towards completion.
As per a report from journalist Fabrizio Romano:
‘Marc André ter Stegen opens doors to Ajax move as negotiations are well underway on player side. Michel and Jordi Cruyff want MATS as new goalkeeper, deal now on with Barcelona on initial loan. Salary share key point being discussed.’
