Barcelona star Marc Casadó has this week turned heads, in outlining the players whose traits would make up his perfect midfielder.
Casadó has of course spent the early weeks of the new campaign establishing himself as a near-ever present in the engine room setup in Catalunya’s capital.
Looking completely at home at the top level of the game, the 21-year-old is continuing to excel on both sides of the ball, under the watch of new boss Hansi Flick.
Speaking during an interview with 3Cat this week, Casadó was therefore asked for an insight into some of the standout players past and present in his position.
Specifically, the youngster was drawn on which players would make up, for him, the best midfielder in history.
And whilst several of his choices will likely come as little surprise, one name in particular stands out, in the form of ex-Barcelona teammate Oriol Romeu.
Casadó’s perfect midfielder profile, all told, was made up as follows:
- Vision: Sergio Busquets
- Technique: Andrés Iniesta
- Passing: Xavi
- Recovery ability: Javier Mascherano
- Press resistance: Frenkie de Jong
- Strength: Oriol Romeu
- Mentality: Gavi
