Barcelona star left out of Spain’s matchday squad to face Denmark

Barcelona star Pau Cubarsí has not been included in Spain’s matchday setup for the country’s meeting with Denmark later today.

As much was confirmed on Friday morning, by La Roja head coach Luis de la Fuente.

Defender Cubarsí was for his part a last-minute call-up to Spain’s ranks this week, owing to an injury suffered by Pau Torres.

After initially being omitted as a result of a nasty facial injury suffered whilst lining out for Barcelona, the 17-year-old was then surprisingly drafted in to replace Torres for his country’s upcoming Nations League fixtures against Denmark and Switzerland.

After also struggling with a bout of illness earlier in the week, however, Cubarsí, evidently, has been deemed not yet in a fit state to contribute.

In turn, speaking to the media this morning, Luis de la Fuente confirmed that the young defender will not even take his place on the bench in Copenhagen later tonight.
