Barcelona star Lamine Yamal breaks a Kylian Mbappé-held record

Barcelona and Spain sensation Lamine Yamal has this week continued to etch his name ever further into the history books of world football.

This comes owing to developments late on Wednesday.

The name of wide-man Lamine of course took its place front and centre in the headlines once more just shy of 24 hours ago.

As much came after confirmation was forthcoming that the Spanish international, owing to his excellence at club and international level alike, had been nominated for the Ballon d’Or.

Lamine has joined the likes of teammate Dani Olmo, Real Madrid stars Vinícius Jr. and Jude Bellingham, and a whole host of further star names from across world football on the 30-man shortlist for the ‘Golden Ball’.

And, in the process the Barcelona talent has secured for himself a piece of history.

As revealed by Diario Sport, Lamine is now the youngest player to ever be named as a Ballon d’Or candidate.

At 17 years and 53 days days old, in fact, the attacker has blitzed the previous benchmark, set by now-Real Madrid star Kylian Mbappé when he was 18 years and 293 days old.
