Barcelona star Iñigo speaks out on injury scare

Barcelona star Iñigo Martínez has late on Tuesday provided an update on his wellbeing.

This comes after the defender set pulses racing across the Barcelona fanbase, during the club’s latest outing.

Hansi Flick’s troops marked their return to action a short time ago, welcoming Swiss outfit Young Boys to Catalunya’s capital for a Champions League clash.

When all was said and done, the Blaugrana emerged dominant victors, thanking goals on the part of all of Robert Lewandowski (2), Raphinha, Iñigo and Mohamed Ali Camara (OG) for a 5-0 result.

As alluded to above, though, late in proceedings at Montjuïc, one source of concern was also forthcoming for Barca, on the personnel front.

As much came after stopper Iñigo was withdrawn from proceedings for youngster Andreas Cuenca.

After making his way back to the bench, the former Athletic Club standout was spotted clutching at his lower back, whilst in discussion with the hosts’ medical staff.

Speaking to the media on the back of the full-time whistle tonight, it therefore came as little surprise when the subject of his fitness was put to Iñigo himself.

And, in his response, the 33-year-old moved to quell fears of a potential injury, assuring:

“I noticed an overload but little more. I could have continued.”
