A member of the defensive ranks at La Liga champions Barcelona is on the transfer radar of Premier League giants Chelsea with a view to the January transfer window.
This comes amid the understanding that the Blues are expressing a fresh interest in the signature of Jules Koundé.
Defender Koundé has for his part endured something of an underwhelming opening to the new campaign.
No longer considered first-choice in Barcelona’s backline, the Frenchman has been forced to make do with a start in just one of his side’s seven La Liga outings.
The likes of Eric García, João Cancelo and youngster Xavi Espart all now appear to be ahead of Koundé in the defensive setup of Hansi Flick and his staff.
And as alluded to above, keen to take advantage of this situation with a view to the 2nd half of the season are those in a position of power at Chelsea. As per a report from Mundo Deportivo, citing English outlet TEAMtalk:
‘Under the management of Xabi Alonso, Koundé’s name has once again been mentioned in connection with the Blues. The London club could potentially secure his signing in the upcoming winter transfer window.’
Barcelona would be expected to demand a sum in excess of €50 million to sanction a potential Koundé sale.
